Palimpsest for Dancers Double Reeds and Videotape

Year: 2001
Duration: 7:40

A palimpsest is a text, which has been written on several times, but incompletely erased, so that layers of the previous version are visible and mix together. This collaboration with choreographer Judith Mikita and composer Larry Dickson uses this notion as a departure point to explore a variety of kinds of layering in movement, image and sound. The work was presented in a live stage version at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati. The videotape version has been screened at the Dancing for the Camera, Black Maria, and NY Independent Film and Video festivals.
